I Never Lose!
Ok, so all of us guys know that when it comes to playing an older brother or older guy at videogames that it is difficult to win and frickin’ glorious when you do. It is one of the few times in our childhood that we could talk smack to the older guys and we’d gladly take the beating afterwards to do it. A win over an older brother was awesome. I have my stories of grandeur but I also have stories of extreme loss and heartache. These mostly involved my nephew Brent. God just really didn’t want that little kid to win.
Some background on the rivalry is that Brent is my sister’s son. He is only 5 years younger than me so we were like brothers for the most part growing up. Long story short, I put this kid through hell. Beatings, wedgies, and psychological warfare were the norm. I especially loved beating him down in games. When thinking of Brent’s journey to actually beating me in a game brings up memories of 3 events in particular. The first was during a heated game of basketball. I cannot remember which game we were playing but it was an old one. Shaq was on the Lakers still. The “screw Brent moment†of the game was when he was taking free throws. He made 2 and it gave the points to me for some reason. He protested and wanted to quit but I convinced him that it was only 2 points and they wouldn’t matter. Ends up I won by 2 and to this day I still remember the score. I made a chant about it.â€The score don’t lie 107-105!â€Â I chanted this until he cried. He was furious but chalk up another win for me. He still insists he won but c’mon…the score don’t lie. The second “screw Brent moment†came during a game of Madden. He was the Rams and I was probably the Colts. This was when the Rams were really good so I was outmatched. Brent was smoking me..and I mean bad! I ended up coming back and was 10 back. He had the ball with about 2 minutes left so I was ready to lose. My lucky streak came when the power flashed and the game reset. He called that he won but I said that I could’ve came back within 2 minutes so we can’t chalk it up as a win. I ended up winning the argument because I am bigger and my winning streak continued. Brent’s day came when we were playing NCAA football 2 years ago. He was Florida which was awesome and I was Indiana which sucked. We all know that in those college football games that if you are a bad team against a good team it is nearly impossible to win. I lost of course and Brent began to gloat. I was about to recognize his glory but of all people his mom came in and said that it didn’t count if the teams were that uneven. We played again with equal teams and again I won. Glory, Glory, Glory! Here I am now 22 years old and yet to be beat by my nephew who is now about 18. The legend continues. Brent’s ass is grass and I will smoke it…FOREVER!-TCR
