The holidays are here and excited gamers are dreaming of digital gifts. If Black Friday hasn’t scared you away from the stores, there are still plenty of good games out there waiting to be purchased. So if you’ve been a good gamer this year, you should look forward to some gaming gifts. The Wisconsin Gamezombie staff, which has been hard at work all fall, is certainly looking forward to their holiday break. I asked the staff what is on their wish list and these are the top four games that they suggested for holiday presents:
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Donkey Kong has been around for a long time, and I would be stunned to meet a gamer that didn’t know who he was. He was originally a villain in a Nintendo arcade game and now has plenty of game titles under his name. Gamezombies commented how much nostalgia they craved from the newest Donkey Kong title. The game looks like a reboot of the classic SNES game, Donkey Kong Country. Interested? Check out these sites:

Grand Turismo 5
Grand Turismo 5 is a racing game with lovely graphics and an abundance of cars. Beautiful screenshots hardly do justice to the game developed by Polyphony Digital. There are over 1,000 cars to race, an online community, and plenty of extra features. No racing or car enthusiast with a PS3 should ignore this game. Ready to race? Try these sites:

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood
Ezio has returned for another installment of assassinating, lying, and general deceitfulness. Many Gamezombies said if they had to get one game for the holidays, this would be it. Not only does Ezio come with his normal murdering techniques, but the game includes online play. Sick of assassinating with just NPCs around? Now you can be the ever-sneaky assassin with online friends. More information:

Golden Sun: Dark Dawn
The Golden Sun series is back and RPG gamers are happy. Using the power of the elementals, it’s up Earth Adept Matthew and his companions to save the world of Weyard. Those who have played any Golden Sun game and have a DS shouldn’t over look this installment. The RPGers of the Gamezombie staff have impatiently been awaiting this next title and mentioned they probably couldn’t wait till the holidays to play this one. Good thing they didn’t have to. Wishful Thinking
Many Gamezombie staff members mentioned games they wished were out for the holiday season. But, alas, there is no amount of holiday magic that will make these games be released sooner. It’s worth mentioning the games though. Check out these websites and hope for no more delays!
Portal 2
Dragon Age 2
Pokemon, Black and White
Infamous 2
And now, a poem for your gaming amusement:
Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the site
Every gamer was stirring with thoughts of digital delight.
Their systems were silent by the HDTVs,
In high hopes that new games would be there to please.
The zombies were nestled all sung in their graves,
While visions of juicy brain dreams they craved.
And a gamer in their pajamas, with shot-gun equip,
Had finally settled down to eat some chips and dip.
When out on the driveway there arose such a clatter
The gamer sprang up to see what was the matter.
Away to the window they ran like a hedgehog
Tore open the shutters and began a dialogue.
“Now Goblins! Now Vampires! Now Robots and Sith Lords!
Oh, Wizards! Oh, Witches! And evil masses of Hordes!
To the end of levels! To the edge of the world maps!
I will chase you all into my deathtraps!
“Don’t you dare ruin this holiday for me!
I have been preparing an elf army and will show no mercy!
I have a plasma sword and portal gun,
And have an attack dog that you cannot outrun.
My immature brother will have your chestnuts roasted,
And just so you know, my little sister has a gear score of over nine hundred!â€
And then, in a twinkling, there came a reply:
“It’s-a me, the Italian plumber, on holiday standby.
I’m-a here to wish you happy holidays and bring good cheer,
Don’t-a worry I’m-a nothing to fear.â€
He was dressed all in red, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with Goomba blood and soot.
A bundle of peripherals he had in his cache,
And he looked like a dealer, just opening his stash.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
dumping out all sorts of good stuff, and then turned with a jerk.
With a “yahoo†and a double jump into the air,
He vanished in a whirl of yellow stars and victory fanfare.
The gamer dashed to the driveway to see what had been left.
Everything and more, from angry war gods to grand auto theft.
There were controllers, systems, and strategy guides to deploy.
The gamer was struck with feelings of happiness and joy.
This season would be different, the gamer declared.
No matter the genre or system, the bad spirits would be aired.
Every gamer everywhere should respect each other
No matter if you’re from Hyrule, Midgar, or Rapture.
No villains would ruin celebrations this year,
For the world of gamers is strong and sincere.
Teach noobs how to thrive and hardcore players to chill
Spreading the fun of games should be in goodwill.
So the gamer packed up the gifts and headed away,
Tonight would be a true gaming buffet.
And the gamer exclaimed, as he bounded out of sight,
“Happy Holidays to all, and to all a good-night!â€
Have a great holiday season, Gamezombies!
